Team Overview:


TCoE Test Automation group provides support in project and operational deliveries while introducing efficiencies in testing process by means of automation and reducing cost to the customers.

 

This group is a part of a larger TCoE Tools & Specialized Testing Team which offers variety of services that include Functional Automation, Performance Testing, Mobile Testing Infrastructure and Testing Resources Support.

 

Position Summary:

The primary purpose Senior Automation Test Engineer role is to work closely with manual & automation teams (onsite/offshore model) to design, build, test, and deploy effective test automation solutions across the organization. This is a hands-on role and the selected candidate will be expected to oversee development and perform code reviews. Occasionally the selected candidate will participate heavily in scripting, execution, analysis tasks, and framework development. The Senior Automation Test Engineer must be familiar with standard software test and quality processes, methodologies, and tools, and must have a track record of very high technical competence and individual accomplishments that includes strong coding and scripting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development and implementation of Test Automation Framework using tools such as MicroFocus (formerly HP) UFT (formerly QTP) /LeanFT, Selenium to automate the manual testing process
  • Lead development solutions for performing automated Regression Testing, Integration Testing, Data Testing, upstream-downstream Data verification testing and data transformation testing between source and target systems
  • Make modifications & necessary updates to the existing automation framework
  • Participate in automation framework design, and collaborating with the automation offshore team
  • Fluent in automation tools such as QTP/UFT/LeanFT, Selenium Web Driver
  • Advocate of QA methodologies & practices
  • Refine and maintain suites of automated scripts and modules containing reusable functions
  • Support testing efforts through automated scripting, framework development, tool configuration and maintenance
  • Generate automated dashboard - management reports to provide the performance on testing process using Quality Center, SQL, VB Scripting and Excel macros
  • Provide test coverage analysis based on automation results
  • Execute and analyze results of daily/nightly automated test loads
  • Identify defects and assist with classification, tracking, retesting, and resolution as required
  • Execute to daily targets as indicated by test planning
  • Document detailed defects and issues through the test management system
  • Work closely and proactively with the Business and product teams to determine the best way to increase the quality of the product
  • Report Quality Center/ALM and UFT/LeanFT environment issues to MicroFocus Support group or other vendors, follow-up and track till closure

Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent

 

Experience:

 

  • 2-5 years industry experience preferred
  • 5-10 years practical experience preferred
  • Expert in MicroFocus UFT/LeanFT (formerly HP UFT/QTP - Unified Functional Testing, Quick Test Professional)
  • Strong experience in Automation Framework development
  • Experienced with MicroFocus Quality Center (QC)/Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) 12.6
  • Experienced in Descriptive Programming and Data Driven Test Scripts in UFT to perform functional, integration and regression testing
  • Experienced in data analyses and data validation by writing SQL queries.
  • Strong with Macros (Microsoft excel scripting)
  • Strong Programming Skills (object oriented languages: C# preferred; Java, Perl, Python - good to have)
  • Integration UFT with third party applications
  • Knowledge of what represents good software design
  • Must be able to create high quality, maintainable, and performant code
  • Very strong communication skills
  • Very strong writing skills to write test plans and specs
  • Very strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills
  • Effective interpersonal & organizational skills
  • Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task & work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to interact with various teams in a matrix environment

 

Travel Requirements:

  •  May require local travel
  •  May require other travel for business needs

 

Working Arrangements:

  • May require after hours on call support
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
