Position Description

Pulse8 is seeking a talented Software Engineer with a propensity for database development in the design, development, and testing of SQL-based solutions in support of managing Interventions for Pulse8’s Risk Adjustment customers.  The position involves running ad-hoc manual processes and reports while also implementing the automated solutions.  Superior technical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position.  Position is primarily SQL work, but will involve C# front end and ETL development as well. 


This is a remote role.


Responsible for design and development of automated processes.  Working as key player in a small-team environment, the Software Engineer will perform virtually all duties in the software development lifecycle:

  • Scope and requirements
  • Development and unit testing
  • Check-in / check-outs to source code repository
  • Release planning
  • Test plan authoring
  • Code review
  • Deployments
  • System and user testing support
  • Developing user guides
  • Data validity analysis


The position also involves a wide range of other ancillary duties in support of operations and other company initiatives as necessary.


Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience



Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in MS SQL, Database Design, Normalization, T-SQL Stored Procedures, Functions and Performance Tuning
  • Working knowledge of C#, .NET
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Desired knowledge of healthcare with relative experience in: Claims data, Risk adjustment, Medicare, Quality (5-Star, QRS, HEDIS) and Medicaid
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Agile/Scrum/Kanban experience
  • Experience using SDLC software such as TFS or Jira
  • Experience with testing, specifically writing test cases, unit testing, and automated testing
  • Strong documentation skills


Travel requirements:

  • Will travel to Annapolis, MD for new hire orientation and then all Pulse 8 employees attend two company summits per year in various locations.


Working arrangements:

  • Monday through Friday or as defined by assignment requirements
