    The primary purpose of this role is to provide the highest calibre of technical leadership and take ownership of the definition of architectural approaches used across Allscripts’ software solutions to meet the company and customer’s strategic goals.


    • Roadmaps: Strategically forecast and plan future projects to accelerate technical and business growth.
    • Technology standards: Define technology standards and lifecycles.
    • Innovation: Think outside of the box. Create architectures that allow Allscripts to provide the best experience to customers while future proofing the environment.
    • Governance: Audit existing environments and filter incoming project request to make sure they adhere to the reference architecture.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: build and maintain relations with other business units.
    • Stability: Search out improvements in current environment based on technology advancements and innovation.
    • Team work: Work with other architects and engineers providing input while staying open minded.
    • Business and Financials: Work with finance, product teams, and project managers to create business cases, project plans, correlate cost for current run and maintain, and project ownership cost.
    • Communication: The ability to communicate (written, verbal, and presentation skills) to other business tiers and senior leadership.


    Academic and Professional Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree



    • 12+ years experience in the IT industry
    • 5+ years practical experience designing and building enterprise or distributed software systems
    • Security, networking and public cloud experience
    • Technical Requirements:

      Working knowledge of the following

      WAN Technologies:

      • Routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF
      • Emerging technologies: SD-WAN and related technologies
      • General carrier knowledge

      Datacenter technologies:

      • Converged technologies
      • Hyper-converged
      • Shared storage
      • Core switching
      • SDN
      • Distributed Switching

      LAN technologies:

      • Spanning tree
      • General Physical connectivity knowledge
      • Wireless
      • General Firewall knowledge
      • TCP/IP
      • LAN switching
      • Load balancers
      • QoS
      • Segmentation technologies i.e. VLANs


      • Healthcare standards HIPPA, HITRUST etc…
      • IPS, URL Filtering, Encryption standards, Virus Protection, and required data segmentation.

      Troubleshooting (Subject Matter Expert)

      • General Network Troubleshooting knowledge (packet capture analytics etc)
      • The ability to lead a troubleshooting effort – When issues are escalated have the skill-set to make recommendation and facilitate next steps

      Desired Certifications:

      CCNP and/or CCIE in Route Switch or Data Center


    Travel Requirements:

    • Ability to travel as needed
