    The primary purpose of this role is management of applications support functions of a Managed Services account.

    Primary responsibilities of position: The Manager’s role is to coordinate the day to day operations of an SCM application team, focusing on Clinical Documentation functionality.  This includes scheduling of routine work, scheduled maintenance, and prioritization of work assignment to meet the required service delivery.  The team is accountable for design, configuration, testing, and maintenance for SCM documentation, flowsheets, and other application functionality related to clinical documentation, including interfaces and integration of documents between systems and other integration with clinical systems. This individual will perform leadership functions on a team, including mentoring of team members and dissemination of pertinent information to the team.




    • Day to day management of a team of application system analysts.
    • Oversee staff’s configuration activities and ensure all application features are functioning properly and meet functional and clinical requirements.
    • Oversee new workflow and feature design, specifications, and testing processes and procedures to meet Hospital EMR Enterprise design standards and principles.
    • Analyze and estimate work effort based on technical and user requirements and perform resource capacity planning for the team.
    • Manage design and implementation of new clinical documentation integration activities.
    • Manage end-to-end development process of application solutions from requirements gathering to final production implementation, working with other internal IT teams, corporate staff, and outside vendors. 
    • Manages service requests for the team; makes assignments and monitors completion; monitors compliance SLA measures for changes and incident resolution
    • Mentor staff and support staff’s professional development.
    • Evaluate staff performance and complete annual performance reviews.
    • Work to orient new staff members to maximize their performance.
    • Interact with senior Allscripts and Health System leaders.
    • Actively participates in project governance committees to understand business requirements & lend expertise to design and development.
    • Maintain compliance with all account level and corporate policies, procedures, and training requirements
    • Ensure team compliance with all change control and documentation requirements.
    • Participate in 24/7 weekly Manager on-call rotation.  Support new activations on a 24/7 basis.


    • Provide effective and efficient applications support IT services which meet the needs and requirements of client hospital/health system.
      • Assists in account profitability to meet revenue and margin requirements set at the corporate level
      • Effective management of the client relationship and resolution of client issues.
      • Continuous risk identification and appropriate escalation.
      • Effective utilization and management of staff such that milestones/goals are obtained and staff is motivated and competent.
      • Understands application and technical functionality and capabilities to effectively provide solutions for business requirements.
      • Balances demand management for multiple complex simultaneous projects, operational enhancements, break-fix, and maintenance requests.
      • Provides strategic guidance for planning projects and operational support for health system initiatives.
      • Ensure team adherence to all team, account, and client policies and procedures.
      • Support needs across a complex healthcare setting.
      • Manages complex implementations and post implementation optimization across hospital/heath system network.
      • Scopes projects, develop budgets and assess cost of ownership
      • Effectively translate business requirements to technical specicfiations / IT requirements.
      • Develops strategy and resource plans to anticipate demand for implementation services and workforce needs.
      • Research and recommends new technologies to streamline processes supporting improved care and reducing costs
      • Develops and implements policies and practices for client installations.
    • Identify and recruit internal/external talents to ensure effective mix of competencies.
    • Induct new joiners in order to quickly maximize performance.
    • Set and communicate team/individual objectives and KPI to inspire individuals to achieve high performance.
    • Allocate work load to fully utilize every employee’s talent.
    • Implement development plans and coach for individuals to reach their maximum talent.
    • Provide regular constructive feedback on performance/development and address poor/mediocre performance on a timely manner.
    • Recognize high performers to maintain motivation and retain key talent.
    • Regularly communicate on company news and team progress against business plan.
    • Create team spirit.


    Academic and Professional Qualifications:

    •  BA or BS Degree, and/or relevant business experience



    •  5-7 years industry experience preferred
    • Minimum of three (3) years experience in configuration and support of a clinical EMR.
    •  2-5 years’ experience in information technology management preferred

    Specific experience / skills required:  

    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment
    • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide effective leadership for scheduling and technical operations coordination
    • Strong time management and personal organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task
    • Understanding of hospital and patient care workflows; prior clinical experience a plus
    • Knowledge of HL7 and other system integration methods preferred
    • Knowledge of relational databases preferred
    • Sunrise Clinical manager experience a plus


    Travel Requirements:

    •  May require local travel
    •  May require other travel for business needs


    Working Arrangements:

    • May require after hours on call support
    • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
