    The primary purpose of this role is to work directly with the leadership team to help align the company’s long-term clinical strategies with the needs of healthcare providers, hospitals and provider organizations.

    Responsibilities

    Overall accountability for clinical product vision and excellence at Allscripts. The position is 50% outward facing, engaging effectively with clients, strategic partners, and industry thought leaders. Internal focus is targeted at defining the clinical product vision, improving clinical user experience, building a strong clinical team, and leading clinical excellence in content.

     

     

     

    •        Leads the clinical product vision. Works with clients, strategic partners, market thought leaders and internal stakeholders to define the product vision and direction for our products. Focuses on solutions for information rich, connected, accountable care and meaningful use.
    •        Leads the clinical leadership group. Works with internal clinicians and HR to promote ongoing professional development and education for company clinicians. Goal is to develop a strong, cohesive clinical group and optimize clinical input into all aspects of the business.
    •        Leads client engagement. Leads effective and efficient client engagement in product visioning, requirements, and solution design. The goal is to both improve the quality and usability of our products through effective input and to create strong client advocates/champions.
    •        Provides clinical strategy leadership. Collaborates with Allscripts executives on issues involving clinical strategy and represents market and client clinical perspectives with executive leadership.
    •        Enhances user experience for clinical products. Leads the development and oversight of processes and teams focused on making Allscripts the industry leader in user experience and clinical efficiency.
    •        Leads clinical excellence. Drives development of clinical content and tools required to “READY” the products.
    •        Provides industry/market leadership. Represents Allscripts to the industry and provides guidance to the company on clinical trends and developments.

     

     

     

    People Management

     

    •        Identify and recruit internal/external talents to ensure effective mix of competencies.
    •        Induct new joiners in order to quickly maximize performance.
    •        Set and communicate team/individual objectives and KPI to inspire individuals to achieve high performance.
    •        Allocate work load to fully utilize every employee’s talent.
    •        Implement development plans and coach for individuals to reach their maximum talent.
    •        Provide regular constructive feedback on performance/development and address poor/mediocre performance on a timely manner.
    •        Recognize high performers to maintain motivation and retain key talent.
    •        Regularly communicate on company news and team progress against business plan.
    •        Create team spirit.

    Qualifications

    Academic and Professional Qualifications:

    •        MD or DO, Board Certified with at least three years of residency training and extensive ambulatory and hospital clinical experience. Professional development courses in health care management, medical informatics and/or MPH, MHS, MBA, or MS in health administration or closely related degree is a plus.

    Experience:

    • 10 years of experience in applied Health Information Technology or formal training and 7 years experience.
    • Is a contemporary clinician who understands major trends in healthcare and managed care, and is familiar with point of care products and medical informatics trends and tools.
    • 5 years experience in similar industry role preferred (CMO/CMIO/VP Informatics).
    • Demonstrates passion for excellence, innovation and integrity.
    • Proven track record and industry leadership in health information technology.
    • Success implementing systems with high rates of physician adoption.
    • Demonstrated clinical and industry leadership experience.
    • Experience working with health informatics standards and standards organizations.
    • Possesses good grasp clinical work flow in both inpatient and outpatient settings, interest in clinical information systems and outcomes measurement.
    • Demonstrable leadership role and achievement in complex healthcare delivery systems.
    • Experience in fiscal accountability and budgeting.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction within a software development environment.
    • Is a systems thinker with strong organizational skills who can pull all the pieces together and deliver on time and within budget.
    • Experience and demonstrated understanding of design & usability principles.
    • Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate task durations and complete work projects as scheduled.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn and use new technologies.
    • Experience with product definition and strategic planning in healthcare and software development domains.
    • Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills required.
    • Resourcefulness and ability to take the initiative in the development and completion of work projects.
    • Ability to participate in, as well as promote, a team environment.
    • Experience with global development teams preferred

    Travel Requirements:

    •  Minimal, but as needed

    Working Arrangements:

     

    •        A person working at this level would maintain regular working hours appropriate for the location and assignment.
