Team Overview:

The HIM Information Services team provides technical and software support to the HIM and Patient Access Services departments in the Health System.


Position Summary:


The HIM System Analyst will join a team that provides technical and software support to the HIM and Patient Access Services departments. The position requires resolving break/fix tickets for production systems and participating in on-going projects to rollout enterprise wide software across the health system. The analyst will work closely with teammates, internal application and infrastructure teams, as well as external vendors to resolve issues and roll-out/ implement new systems (Hyland OnBase and Taylor Health SWCE).


  • Provide technical and application support for electronic document software, enterprise data management, enterprise forms automation, enterprise patient identifier, and EMR systems 
  • Documenting project and change work with MS Office and Visio tools
  • Aggregating/compiling data from multiple systems for reporting needs (CSV/Flat file/Excel/SQL)
  • Participate in application testing script generation and execution
  • Working with RDP sessions on Windows 2003/2008/2012/2016 Servers 
  • Creating SQL queries and Crystal Reports to extract data for analysis and reporting
  • Installing software patches and releases for multiple applications / vendors
  • Working closely with infrastructure, applications, and vendor teams to resolve incidents
  • Analyzing Windows Event Logs and application logs 
  • Analyzing HL7 messages for real-time and batch HL7 interfaces
  • communicating with clients and management confidently and articulately
  • Presenting and participating in conference calls with clients and coworkers
  • Participate in 24x7 after hour’s on-call support rotation for multiple applications
  • Configuring and Troubleshooting MS IIS websites
  • Ability to work independently and communicate with hospital staff, clinicians, and physicians


Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  •  BA or BS degree preferred or other relevant combination of training and experience.



  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the Health information technology field
  • Knowledge of Admission, Discharge, Transfer workflows in a healthcare environment
  • Working knowledge of interfaces/data sharing between systems (i.e. ADT/HL7, Billing transactions, Transcription interface)
  • Working knowledge of HIM (medical records) operations and applications for abstracting/coding, physician e-signature, patient chart tracking, deficiency management, correspondence management, and dictation / transcription workflow
  • Working knowledge of HIM (medical records) vendor applications from 3M-CRS, 3M-ARMS/HDM, Streamline Charms Suite, PWC-Smart, Taylor Health Forms On Demand, Allscripts Enterprise Patient Identifier, Hyland OnBase
  • Working knowledge of registration and billing vendor applications from Siemens Invision/FMS, Eagle, and Optimum Keane
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working with Windows Server 2003/2008/2012/2016 and exposure to HL7 interfaces
  • At least 3 years’ experience with standard office apps such as Microsoft Office and Visio
  • At least 1 years’ experience with database tools for SQL Server and Oracle (SSMS, Toad, SQL+)
  • At least 1 years’ experience working with Microsoft IIS or similar web technology
  • Experience with defect and change management processes
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills required
  • Proven track record of completing projects independently 
  •  2-5 years practical experience in providing technical support and maintenance in assigned product preferred


Travel Requirements:

  •  May require local travel
  •  May require other travel for business needs


Working Arrangements:

  • May require after hours on call support
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
