    The primary purpose of this role is as a Database Devloper/Architect in support for the Care Director solution.  Care Director is delivered to the Allscripts client base as a multi-tenant Software as a Service solution and provides a powerful, comprehensive, community-connected population health management solution.


    • Works with the development teams in the data modelling and product database design
    • Identify new database technologies and architecture to utilize as part of overall application
    • Perform code reviews of database development artifacts (scripts, stored procs, triggers, etc.)
    • Develop and test complex SQL stored procedures, scripts, triggers
    • Performs performance optimization of SQL and stored procs and other database artifacts
    • Develops and tests SQL scripts and stored procedures to perform data maintenance in development, test and production environments
    • Participate in agile development processes including estimation, sprint planning, development, daily standups, retrospectives
    • Creates and maintains appropriate documentation (database schema, architecture, etc.)
    • Act as final escalation point for database related issues as part of multi-tier support process
    • Perform deployment of database objects (tables, stored procs, triggers, etc.) to development, test and production environments
    • Effectively supports Sales and Professional Services as part of new client implementations
    • Installs and configures database system software plus third-party system tools, applications and products in development and test environments
    • Implements, periodically tests and reviews appropriate data access and security measures, including access control, audit, backup/restore and system rebuild & recovery processes
    • Implements and continuously improves the database infrastructure environment
    • Provides fast and value-added services to the development organization
    • Pro-actively seeks and acquires technical training, vocational training and market and product awareness such that skills remain current, relevant and valued within Allscripts
    • Trains, coaches, and mentors junior team members
    • Helps build the team with the right talent via recruiting and interviewing activities


    Academic and professional qualifications:

    • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or relevant database experience
    • Post graduate qualifications or technical database certifications preferred



    • 7 plus years of technical experience in database design and development
    • Expert level SQL skills
    • Deep experience with relational database design
    • Deep with SQL Server database administration
    • Experience with SQL Server Service Broker and SQL Server Replication
    • Experience with installing and configuring SQL Server components
    • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services and Reporting Services a plus
    • Experience with Agile development
    • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and debugging skills
    • Excellent research and analysis skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Self-motivated and tenacious when tackling tough technical issues
    • Ability to work closely within a team and collaborate with other
    • Ability to handle conflict, difficult situations, and urgent issues in a professional manner
    • Experience in working with offshore/distributed teams
    • Production DBA mindset with concern for performance, availability and managed change
    • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS based solutions a plus
    • Healthcare experience a plus (Population Health, Care Coordination, HL7, HIE, IHE, CCD, etc.)

    • Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
    • Substantial time is spent working on a computer
