Under the general supervision of the shift supervisor, the Computer Operator is responsible for the scheduling and successful execution of computer production jobs. The Operator is expected to actively monitor applications, interfaces, production job streams as well as environmental controls of the data center and take appropriate actions as necessary. The Operator is responsible to notify or escalate abnormal conditions or anomalies to their management as appropriate. Computer Operators are also responsible for writing and maintaining up to date documentation for all job related activities. Performing the duties of a print operator, tape librarian and other associated functions are also fundamental responsibilities of the Computer Operator.  

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all daily functions are completed and appropriately communicated
  • Ensure all Help Desk tickets and e-mail requests are attended to in a timely fashion
  • Uphold all physical security procedures
  • Operate machinery such as printers, burster/sealer, shredder and all office equipment 
  • Write and maintain clear and concise documentation
  • Moving of paper stock, tape media, equipment etc. as required
  • Maintain a neat, orderly and clean work place environment
  • Assist infrastructure support groups in response to problem and change tickets
  • On an as needed basis, will be required to travel to the North Shore’s data center locations to perform work as directed
  • All other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  •  High School plus technical training

 

Experience:

  •  2-4 years computer operator experience

 

Travel Requirements:

  •  May require local travel
  •  May require other travel for business needs

 

Working Arrangements:

  • May be required to work alternate shifts, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
  • This position is Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 5am-5pm
