The primary purpose of this role is to provide world-class, innovative blended learning solutions for our customers, partners, and employees. Allscripts Education Services works with functional teams across Allscripts to ensure education programs are aligned to and support Market, Product, Financial, and Organizational business objectives. The Educational Technologist's primary responsibilities include working with a team of Educational Technologists to develop and administer the Learning Management (LMS), Learning Content Management (LCMS), and other content delivery tools; design, develop and maintain Education Services Learning Portal (Web) and SharePoint sites; research and develop content authoring tools and provide templates and technical support to Instructional Designers, Project Managers, and Trainers using content authoring tools; and collaborate with media developers, instructional designers and Marketing professionals to maintain graphic and content design standards and processes for Education Services offerings and collateral. Some role functions may require logistical processing for billing, credit memo processing and weekly/monthly reconciliations.

Responsibilities

Authoring Tools Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with other Education Technologists, develop and maintain template components for all education authoring and delivery tools.
  • Collaborates with Instructional Designers and Education Technologists to document and communicate standards and processes.
  • Provides technical expertise and act as point-of-contact for tools questions from Instructional Designers, Education Developers and Trainers
  • Maintains sharepoint site for processes and standards documents
  • Conducts research into the latest tools and technologies for developing learning content to drive innovation to ensure that Allscripts Education Services deliverables are industry-leading

LCMS/LMS Responsibilities

  • With input from other Instructional Technologists, helps oversee the planning and execution of content administration for a global LCMS/LMS, including XML and metadata structures, content types and templates, catalog standards, skills management standards, learning path standards, etc.
  • Conducts system test plans and QA on LMS processes and training content.
  • Develops and maintains documentation of LMS / LCMS / VC configurations
  • Conducts usability tests to evaluate the need for system enhancements on an on-going basis
  • Assist Education Technologist with support questions about the LMS, and engages in trouble-shooting.
  • Works closely with other Education Technologist, Instructional Designers, internal, and external clients to establish catalog structures for learning programs
  • Assist with the planning and execution of analysis on various aspects of the learning management systems to improve business processes.

Content Authoring Tools and Graphic Design Responsibilities

  • With input from other Instructional Technologists and the Director of Professional Services, assist in maintaining the content authoring tools strategy to support Education Services’ development methodology and enable efficient development processes
  • Collaborates with Education Technologist, Instructional Designers, Graphic Artist, Trainers, and usability experts to maintain the visual and functional standards for Allscripts Education Services offerings
  • Collaborates with Education Technologist, Instructional Designers, Graphic Artist, Trainers, and usability experts to provide guidance in maintaining of templates and standard graphical elements for all education materials (including Lesson Plans, Student Guides, Instructor Guides, PowerPoint Presentations, etc.) for Education Services’ content authoring tools
  • Documents tools and template standards and usage and distributes templates to development teams
  • Assist other Educational Technologist and instructional designers to provide technical support and tools expertise to Education Services and vendor development teams
  • Regularly reviews development processes to improve efficiencies
  • Conducts on-going research into emerging tools and practices; collaborating with other Educational Technologists drive innovation to ensure that Allscripts Education Services solutions are industry-leading
  • Assists with the training and rollout of new authoring tools and standards to Education Services and vendor developers to ensure Education Services-wide consistency
  • Collaborates with other Educational Technologists, Instructional Designers and Graphic Artists to ensure that all tools and materials are engaging, meet Education Services branding guidelines, and employ sound User Experience principles
  • Designs, develops, and maintains design elements for all authoring and Education delivery tools
  • Designs, develops, and maintains templates for all education materials, including Lesson Plans, Student Guides, Instructor Guides, PowerPoint Presentations, etc

Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  •  0 - 2 years general content or education development experience and 0 – 2 years of learning  systems experience, content management, and production experience

 

Tools Expertise Preferred:

  • MS Office Suite, MS Project, SharePoint, and Visio Experience
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, Learning Content Management Systems, eLearning authoring tools and Sharepoint
  • Adobe Creative Suite, including Flash, ActionScript 2.0, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver
  • Adobe Captivate (most current version)
  • eLearning development tools: Adobe Flash, Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia
  • Computer graphic tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks

 

Experience Preferred:

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, organization and planning skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to self-manage multiple tasks.
