***Technology Sales Engineer***


The primary purpose of this role is to provide assistance within the sales cycle, demonstrating to prospects that the technical solutions provided through Allscripts will meet the client's business needs today and that Allscripts is a viable technology partner to invest in.


The Technology Sales Engineer will: 

  • Drive up-sell opportunities within the sales cycle where surrounding technologies can be leverage to meet customer business issues;
  • Ensure the deals that are sold by Allscripts are complete solutions that will meet the customer's expectations; and
  • Work both with the sales team and independently to achieve assigned bookings numbers and maximize deal profitability.


  • The primary responsibility is working with prospects to understand the value that the Allscripts products can deliver, the technical architecture of the solution, and the integration options of the solution within the prospect's environment.
  • Facilitates sales productivity and quality through consultative relationships with the Sales Team, Clients, and Prospects.
  • Works with Sales Executives, Clients, and Solutions Consulting on proposal generation and approval, and contract review.
  • Works with prospects to understand the value that the Allscripts products can deliver, the technical architecture of the solution, and the integration options of the solution within the prospect's environment.
  • Contributes to the content and delivery of classroom training, the generation and maintenance of Sales reference materials, special projects as designated by management, and contributes to solution design via Product Mgmt.
  • Partners with Sales Leaders to define key opportunities.
  • Contributes to Sales Qualification Process
  • Prepares, reviews, and presents Proposals as needed
  • Functions as a technical consultant as well as a Sales partner with the common goal of providing quality solutions that achieve corporate and client objectives.
  • Facilitates cross-functional decisions regarding solution improvements or the introduction of new technologies by working with internal and external parties.


Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems, or equivalent experience


  • Typically requires 5 - 8 years experience in Windows Technical Support role or equivalent Technical pre-sales experience
  • Minimum of one Microsoft Certification as well as other certifications preferred include MCSE, advanced CISCO certifications, Citrix, AIS, database and Application Server configuration certifications or advanced DB experience
  • Proven technical and non-technical documentation skills
    • Demonstrated communication skills that span audiences from non-technical to advance IT professionals
    • Experience applying technology to solve business issues, as well as, contributing to internal process improvement efforts


Travel Requirements:

  •  Overnight travel - approximately 50%


Working Arrangements:

  • Work is performed in a remote office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
